I'm a South Jersey native, a lifelong beach girl, and an avid surfer, which is where Hytide gets its name — inspired by a seagull who does exactly what she wants, completely unbothered. I also spent seven years in Oceanside/Carlsbad, so there's some California in me too, layered over my love for the quieter, more delicate ecosystem of the Jersey shore I grew up on.
My "why" comes down to this: I want you to feel confident showing up online, with a website that feels like an extension of who you actually are — so people can connect with you the way I connected with the person whose course led me here. That connection is what got me into this work, and it's what I want to help you build for yours.
Hi friend, I'm Lauren
For a while, I built my career in social media. I loved the flexibility and creativity, and how it let me blend my analytical side with my creative one. But "flexible" started to feel a lot more like "unstable."
I bounced between agencies, watched contracts disappear the moment one big client walked, and got laid off more than once because leadership couldn't keep the lights on, never because of my work. I even tried freelancing on my own, but it never clicked. I couldn't sell something I didn't fully believe in.
By the time I was about to buy yet another course promising to finally grow my own social media business, I'd accepted there was no clean path back to a normal job. The market for anything remote or flexible had gotten brutal.
Then I saw a five-second TikTok about web design.
I watched a webinar, booked a sales call the next day, and honestly knew before I'd even hung up the phone.
Web design made sense to me in a way social media management never fully had. I believed in it enough to actually talk about it, not recite a pitch. For the first time, I wasn't selling something. I was sharing something.
I build every website on Showit, a drag-and-drop platform that makes it easy to update your site yourself later, no coding required. I've also designed on Wix, WordPress, and Shopify, and Showit is by far the most user-friendly, with the most creative freedom. It also makes it easy to build a genuinely great mobile experience.
What platform do you build websites on?
They're not required, but they help more than almost anything else. Professional, on-brand photography is one of the biggest factors in making a website feel premium and cohesive — something that's genuinely hard to achieve with iPhone photos alone. I do have access to stock photography to fill in gaps, but if you already have brand photos, or you're open to a photoshoot, that's always what I'd recommend for a site that truly feels like you.
Do I need professional photos for my website?

Website in a Week takes exactly one dedicated week once your content and branding are ready. Custom Site Design typically takes a few weeks, depending on scope and how quickly we move through discovery and revisions.
How long does the whole process take?
Yes. Every website I design is built to look great and function smoothly across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Will my website work on mobile?
Yes. Both the Website in a Week and Custom Site Design packages include brand styling, so you'll walk away with a color palette, fonts, and an optional wordmark logo even if you're starting from scratch.
I don't have branding yet, can you still help?
Yes. Once your site goes live, you'll get simple training so you feel confident making updates and changes on your own, any time.
